Bookstagram
Bookstagram is the book community on Instagram, built around photos of books, bookshelves and cosy reading corners.
Bookstagram was around years before BookTok, and it feels different. It’s visual first: flat lays, stacks, shelfies, a paperback propped up next to a coffee. The actual review goes in the caption, where there’s room for a few hundred words.
That makes for slower, more thought-through recommendations. A lot of how the book internet works today started here, like review copies in exchange for posts, blog tours timed to a release, and readers whose recommendations really move sales.
A shelfie is a photo of your own bookshelves, and it’s probably the most Bookstagram thing there is. It’s also how a lot of people find readers with the same taste. You can take in someone’s shelves much faster than their reviews.
Bookstagram: common questions
